Kryten blinked, accessing his databases. "The kojellizards were one of a number of GELF species engineered to test the boundaries of chimeric genginering, sir."
"Eh?" Lister shifted to the left, avoiding a passing transparent blob of fur and scales.
"All GELFs are chimeric combinations of various species, with a little bit of human DNA tossed in. In short," Kryten shrugged, "they wanted to see what they could get away with."
