1. Genius Loci

"What I have noticed," Thorne grimaced at his conversational partner, "is that you lot tend to pin the 'magic' sticker on things much as the Mexican children pin tails on donkeys during birthday celebrations."
Gaerwn shrugged.
"You are, of course, right. I suppose in essence it is much like any other faith - to the believer everything speaks of it. And to the non believer nothing will be enough. So I'll just leave you here in this auspicious institution to ponder it as you would. See if you can feel even an inkling of something... supernatural."
With that the director took his leave and the agent looked around with frowning eyes. In his considered opinion he had far too many things far more important and pressing than sitting in a rickety rattan chair on an equally rickety platform suspended in midair over a good sized drop in the middle of a sizeable hall that could have been a library or a monastery...
