The Visit

The first time she turned up at his doorstep was unexpected. The meeting had been set up, but he did not plan ending up in his flat afterwards. It was a mess all around, he hadn't tidied up for weeks. Some clothes here, some books there, a sculpture made of wine bottles in the corner, a small collection of dust bunnies to keep him company all over the place.
But she seemed not to notice as she moved gracefully through the flat, only in her underwear, a glass of wine in her hand and a half-smile on her lips.
