Respite

Maddie was, once again, curled up in a hammock, laptop in her lap.
"Anything good going on in Prague?"
"I haven't checked," she responded absently to the - thankfully neutral - voice.
She turned the screen towards Vishal.
"You do know we have a very well-stocked library here, don't you?"
Maddie nodded, then shrugged.
"I prefer focusing on the text, rather than on how others felt about it."
It was his turn to nod.
"Although *she* is right. For correspondence, the modern way might be quicker, but it gives an empath way less information... It keeps us guessing, just like everyone else."
