Maybe Another Day

The world is a terrifying place, full of dangers Kay is not ready to face. Every morning, he tries to convince himself that maybe today is the day, that it would be worth going out, especially on bright summer days. He imagines the sun could be wonderful.
Then Kay concludes that no, it's too scary and really, he would just get sunburnt, what with his stupid complexion.
And so he crawls back under the covers and returns to his books, living many lives vicariously and putting his own on hold, the way he has done for the past thirty years.
