Captain America had a oilcolor budget.
It was one of those things that Tony automatically signed off. Yes, painting was therapeutic, from everything he had read. Bob Ross, all of that. But did Steve really need this outlet?
Apparently so. When Tony came to visit, Steve was deeply engaged in painting. A painting of... Tony, as Iron Man, lying helplessly on the ground, surrounded by the Avengers,
"Does that make you happy?" Tony asked, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall. "Seeing me so helpless?"
"Not happy," Captain America sighed. "I just wish... I could have helped you sooner,"

I am so blown away by this. I just... the word that comes to mind is yes.
And that it's Captain America sighing, not Steve. Just all of it. I relate to this a lot.

I wish I could still see Steve like this, like how he was portrayed in the first Avengers. In next films, unfortunately, I only see selfishness and selfrighteousness in him...

This is Avengers Assemble, so a different universe. :)
You'll get no argument from me that Steve is super inconsistently written in the MCU though...!

Thank you for commenting! Yes, as noted, this is Avengers Assemble, the animated series. I thought they made Steve's character more consistent, and the communication between Steve and Tony was better. Also, Steve's painting was a regular hobby, which delighted me...
