Interspecies Diplomacy

Kirk was doubled over, his hand clamped over his mouth. He kept his eyes fixed on the back of Spock's head, ready to compose himself in an instant if the Vulcan turned around.

"I can assure you," Bones said again, torn by the duelling forces of exasperation and the need to remain in control, "it's just an expression. The kid meant nothing by it, he's new."

"I cannot understand the logic," Spock insisted. "Human skin is not green, nor does skin tone indicate level of skill or experience."

"Yes, but-"

Kirk was almost entirely certain Spock was kidding. Almost. Probably.
