“Kazimir,” Dima says, “you are so full of shit.” They’re well into their second bottle of Stolichnaya. The once intellectual debate about the regime and its lack of appreciation for artists has turned into a drunken argument over the meaning of art.
“I’m not,” says Kazimir. “My art has meaning. It has PURPOSE!” he exclaims, taking another swig of vodka.
“Bullshit. You just like to smear paint on canvas and then let people make a big deal out of it.” Dima shakes his head. “You could paint a goddamn square on a white background and they’d find meaning in it!”
Drabble je inspirováná uměleckým dílem ruského malíře Kazimira Maleviče. Jeho Černý čtverec je považován za jedno z nejvýznamějších děl ruského moderního umění... Drabble je samozřejmě smyšlená, ale kdo ví - třeba Černý čtverec vznikl zrovna takhle. ;)
